mG Win 1st Title in AoT Season 21!

Another successful season of RTS League's Age of Mythology: The Titans Clan League is behind us, and we have a new, first-time Champion. Let's reminisce about what history we witnessed in its progress.

Even before Season 21 started, we knew a new Champion will rise, as Late Night Club couldn't defend their two titles in a row due to tumultuous events in their clan. With the renewed zeal of Deities of Death to rule AoT clan scene, many were expecting them to take back their favourite spot in RTS League, and not many dared to question them.

In the Group Stage, they owned everyone, not losing a game, suggesting they signed up with one aim only, and Semifinals (videos) against Tsunami Clan started as everyone expected them to start. But then it all turned sour - TSM won their favourite Mediterranean to level the score to 1:1 and force a decider, in which all their hopes for regained glory left them, together with their stellar player.

TSM's fate was intertwined with the other Finalist, clan Mighty Generation, from the beginning - they both started in Division 1, both achieved exactly the same results, they drew with each other. In Quarterfinals, TSM overcame Angels of Death 2:0, while mG dispatched Virtual Killers with the same result and ease.

mG's Semis with Muppets were a real test for them, the constantly well-playing MpT team is a tough hurdle to overcome for any clan, and so they were forced to show what is their favourite way of winning in difficult situations - Wonders.

In the Finals themselves though, they showed another side to their play - preparation and strategy. TSM were the public's favourite for the Finals, everyone saw them winning on Medit again and then taking one game with relative ease against underestimated mGs, but maybe this distrust was what motivated the underdogs to train and prepare.

Finals started on the dreaded Medit, but quite early on in the game everyone could see something is fishy - TSM are not owning this! mGs prepared for the map and with some nice effort overcame the favourites on their home pond, even though TSM fought back bravely and didn't give the map up easily at all. Second game was then played on a rather unconventional Anatolia, on which we again saw a very nice battle, with especially interesting Colossi/Mummies bit at the end. The game ended in a classic mG way, sealing their first ever win in RTS League Finals.

And so, the 21st Champions of RTS League's Age of Mythology: The Titans Clan League are:

Muppets were another strong team of Division 1, actually the first placed after the group stage, and so it's only fitting that the three clans that all went 1:1 with each other grab all three award banners. After another successful season, MpT earned an award yet again:

The same as last time, if someone thinks Deities of Death won't get a banner in an RTS League season, you're just plain wrong. DoD's B-team showed some real good team efforts this time around and gave a scare to even the top finishing clans - they drew with both the Finalists! And since they also showed a great perseverance and commitment to League play, culminating in them reaching the League Cup Finals against Player Killers, they take home the sole and unique award:

And, as per tradition, there is one more award to give away - the Fair Play Award for the most fun clan to play with, the clan best upholding the base idea of RTS League - a place to have fun and enjoyable clan wars in a friendly setting. The nicest clan of Season 21, as voted by the Clan Operators, is:

AoD 9.2
LoVe 8.8
MpT 8.8
Undead 8.5
DoD 8.2
vK 8.2
DoD|B 8.0
MpT|B 7.5
PK 7.3
mG 6.0
TSM 5.5
mG|B 3.6

Congrats to all the awarded clans and thank you very much to everyone who took part!

Sign-ups for the next season will start shortly, so get ready!
