CZ Clan Dominates the AoC Community and Season 35

As another great season of RTS League's Age of Empires II: The Conquerors Clan League is behind us, all that remains to close up the deal is to crown the winners, award the banners and make sure everybody knows who stands now as the top clan ruling the AoC community.

With Season 35 running alongside the Nations Cup, we could see some very concentrated efforts by many players representing both their clans and their countries at the same time. This led to some pretty epic games and, of course, extra motivation for teams eliminated from the NC and wanting to prove their worth in some other way. Sometimes we've even had direct paybacks with teams meeting again on the field of battle, ready to determine if the initial victory was well deserved or not.

This all was though just a sidestory to the main theme of the season - after the long reign of Revenge of Knights toppled by Power of Japan last Grand Finals, can the new Champions rule unchallenged in their stead? For a long time it seemed so, they completely dominated the group stage and stormed into the Quartefinals, but as fate had it, there they met their final foes who proved to be their betters this time around, Turkey Team.

Turkish Road to Finals

Turkey Team partly consisting of last season's Bronze clan Dream of Winners definitely was a favourite for top spots from the very start - with players like Emin, jugband, _Dnzdalgic_ or Artras you cannot expect any less - and they were proving their worth right away. They cruised into Playoffs easily, and if it weren't for some scheduling difficulties, they might've advanced with clean shield the same as PoJ. But the fact they went from the second place set up a very difficult path for them if they wanted to fight for the Title.

First they had to overcome strong Run Forrest Run (recs, vids), and then they were faced with the defending Champions themselves. The match was fierce and even (recs, vids), requiring a decider to determine the winner, and T___T were the clan to emerge victorious. This, of course, put them as a no1 candidate for Gold immediately, and this position obviously suited them very well, as they dispatched New Chapter without a single loss in the Semifinals (recs, vids).

Czech Way to the Top

T___T's Grand Final opponents came from Division 5, having had to fight similarly hard in Playoffs to get to the last battle of the season. CZ Clan and its players are often underrated, but time and again they prove their skills and come away with a good result, including RTS League banners, showing they sure are a force to be reckoned with at any time - players such as Skull, Mango and Janik are always ones you want to be careful about when playing them.

Confirming their abilities, they navigated the group stage with ease, losing points just once in a tie with Made in Brazil (recs), a strong South American clan they were fated to meet again in the Playoffs. Before that though, they had to overcome another South American team, this time mainly from Argentina, Killerz (recs, vids). Unfortunately the fated decider meant to crack the group stage tie with MIB then couldn't happen due to scheduling difficulties, and so they got a pass to the Semifinals with the battle waiting to be decided some other time.

As if to compensate for their pass, they were faced with Vikingos Nomadas in the penultimate match of the season. This encounter led to 5 pitched battles testing the wits and skills of both teams, finally decided in almost an hour-long Islands (recs, vids). If the Quarters were easy for CZ, Semis were anything but, but what better preparation could they have asked for if they hoped to defeat the powerful T___T in the Grand Finals.

Grand Finals T___T vs. CZ

The Championship match promised a series of games to behold and remember, and that's exactly what we've got. Right the starting Oasis was packed with action and excitement as CZ went into T___T hard from the beginning and the Turks gave it all in an attempt to turn the game around, continuing with the following Arabia that proved to be a true home map to the Turkish team. Islands were then the correct choice for CZ and with the score being 1:2, Baltic was the next in line. The north saw a truly epic effort from the Czech side, as even though they had a very bad map, they were able to keep their wits about them and figure out a strategy that would allow them to beat both the unfavourable odds and their opponents. With the fourth map in their bag as well then, the situation was done, and we could proclaim that the Champions of RTS League's Age of Empires II: The Conquerors Clan League, Season 35 are:

Bronze Banner Match

The tackle for the last banner took place at the same time as the Finals, but it would be wrong to say that the Bronze match was overshadowed by it. Both New Chapter and Vikingos Nomadas were looking to top their great seasons with something to put on their digital shelves, and so no one can be surprised the match was full of effort and high skill. We could see another 5-game clan war, again decided in a mighty long struggle on the last map, the blindly picked Coastal. With the score going back and forth all the time, the 5th win in the end went to:
