Novelties for Season 37:
The following Rules updates will be incorporated into our official Rule set for this season.
1) Since RTS League is a widely respected clan competition and our main goal is to offer fun and fair place to compete, we have decided to from now on disallow teams the likes of WOLOL0 or Dream of Winners, meaning we will now accept only real clans to compete. The said teams served their purpose in the past to allow for more participants and high quality players to enter the competition, but RTSL has grown past that need, and we believe this caveat is no longer necessary to offer top quality clan war fun.
We also want to further support the "clan" theme and make you all feel comfortable playing games here, so we are introducing an adjustment to standing Rules covering Player-Lists and players themselves, with the aim to eliminate smurfing altogether.
Therefore everybody is now required to play only on their Main Nickname. Everybody needs to know who they are playing against, and allowing players to use various nicks, even though they were properly registered on the Clan Roster and belonged to the person, was not really helping in this. Smurfing is no fun and needs to go.
New Rule 3.5 wrote:
All players must play in Voobly and IP games under their Main Nickname, indicated in the Player-List. If, when asked, a clan refuses to swap out an ineligible player, and the games are not played as a result, that clan will receive a Miss (see below, Rule 8.2).
- A Main Nickname is a name under which the player is primarily known. Clearly recognized derivatives of the Main Nickname (minor variations such as an alternate spelling or a username with additional/different underscores) are also eligible for use by the same player. Only the Main Nickname needs to be registered on the Player-List.
- A player may not hide his identity by playing on an unknown secondary nickname, even if that secondary nickname is on the Player-List.
This will be complemented by the following two new Rules:
Rule 3.7 wrote:
If a clan is unsure of the identity of an opposing player, then that clan should ask for the player's true identity or other nicknames. The opposing clan must fully identify that player. If the opposing clan incorrectly identifies the player in question, then it will be considered a smurfing incident.
Rule 3.8 wrote:
A clan may not refuse to play if it suspects the opposing clan of smurfing. In such instances, the games should be played, and a formal complaint filed with League Staff following the match. If a clan refuses to play based on suspicion of smurfing, then that clan will receive a Miss (see below, Rule 8.2).
Also, to support the said clan spirit and the fact that we are a Clan League, not a team league, everybody is required to play under the tag of the clan they are representing. Football players from one club all wear the same jersey, too, right?
New Rule wrote:
All players must play under the tag of the clan they are representing.
Most of you already naturally adhere to these common-sense guidelines, so not much should change for you, but you will now be better protected from other, not so sensible clans, as they will be required to rise to your level of sensibleness.
The nice side effect here is that the Player-List will get a lot easier for the Clan Operators - you need to register just 1 general nick per player and here you go, you don't even need to worry about missing underscore anymore
2) Due to certain confusions regarding the Hidden Civs option gaining popularity thanks to the War is Coming tournament, we are introducing a clear specification into our Rules covering this issue:
New Rule wrote:
A clan may choose the Advanced Setting "Hidden Civilizations" on its home map.
3) Maps from the War is Coming WiC_Map_Pack_v4 are now available for League play if both clans agree. (Both clans must agree to a specific map, not the whole mapset.)

Now back to the sign-ups!
To take part in Season 37 and have a chance at the fun (and the Banners ), your clan will need to fit a few conditions to ensure you would be a positive contribution to the League.
First you will need a Clan Operator - the guy/gal representing you in the competition, scheduling your matches with the opponents and communicating with League staffers on your behalf. This person should be reliable, responsible and available regularly, every day if at all possible. Proper and timely communication is the key here. You can, of course, have more than 1 Clan Operator to cover for each other
Then you must have at least 6 active players ready to participate - this is to ensure you are able to complete your matches regularly even if some of your heroes happen to be temporarily unavailable.
Further you need to be familiar with the League rules. Read them carefully, and pay attention to the novelties for Season 37 posted above as well.
And when you've checked all these points and you're ready to join, then again make sure that your clan meets the criteria listed above and within the rules and simply post the following sign-up form. Returning clans need just to confirm the participation (and read the novelties and active admin decisions as well, of course).

Please sign your clan up only if you seriously want to take part in the League, do not sign up inactive clans or clans with too few players to actually meaningfully compete. Clans that drop out during the season will be excluded from the next one/s.
Sign-ups will be closed on Sunday 24th May, Season 37 will start the following week.
If you have any further questions, feel free to contact our AoC staff members or any other staffers.
Looking forward to having you in the League, and spread the word - the more clans, the more fun for everyone!
