IRC Support Channel

RTS-League has an official IRC channel where users can meet to chat, set up matches, or hang out before a game.  It's also a good way to get technical support and help with the website from RTSL admins.  If using the forum would be too slow and you'd prefer to communicate in real-time, then using the IRC channel is a great option.

Just point your favorite IRC client to irc.maximumdirect.net , port 6667 and join the channel #rtsl .  There should always be at least one admin in the channel - meaning that even if you don't get an answer right away, you are guaranteed to get a response as soon as an admin is available.

If you have any questions about the support channel or IRC in general, please don't hesitate to ask.

Re: IRC Support Channel

Very cool, even more incentive for me to get IRC - plan on me being online when I can.

Can you point me to some good IRC clients?  The first free one I could find without looking too hard was IRC @ Work.  It seems like you can login as whatever name you want, though, so security is a bit of an issue big_smile

Re: IRC Support Channel

Er...looks like we need a lot more information about what IRC actually is... (God that makes me feel old.)

Basically, IRC is a type of instant messaging service, similar to MSN, AIM or ICQ.  Probably the most popular free IRC client is called mIRC, but there are literally hundreds of options out there.

I'll write up a full how-to guide later tonight.

Re: IRC Support Channel

lol I've heard about it but always viewed it as something from the 80's or something tongue

I downloaded mIRC but it wanted me to pay for it after a 30 day evaluation period big_smile

OK I'm on IceChat now.  It's free and easy to set up, so thus far I'd recommend it.
